My Story
By Angela Gee.

Hi my name's Angela Gee. I didn't really understand exactly what a gym was, until I joined Future Bodies in 1995 and that's when I met Ian.

I always called it a working gym. A gym, where people went and worked really hard (which I wasn't used to) Men, women, young and old. We were always encouraged and pushed a step further.

In 1996 I met Liz. We trained together for about 3 years. In that time Ian asked us to enter his Christmas Show which was a popular event. It gave us something to focus on. All was not lost. For all the hard work and diet I came 1 st and Liz came 2 nd.             Training became part of my life, like getting up, going to the loo and brushing my teeth. Going to the gym was something I liked and wanted to do.

As the years went by there were changes at the gym, but nothing stopped me. Ian had gone into personal training. My friend, Lorraine and I did miss him. We'd got a bit stale and were just going through the motions. We thought, let's ring Ian.

In 2005 I started having one on one training sessions. It was hard going, but I always enjoyed the challenge, and after a few months I started to shape up. I felt great.

I always ate fairly clean, but Ian got me into a more varied diet. I ate what I wouldn't normally eat. Things like, fresh salmon, fillet steak, nuts, seeds and houmous.

I trained towards some photos taken, to see how I was shaping up. Ian took them with the help of his wife Louise. We were really pleased with them. That's when I decided to train for the N.P.A competition at Penistone.

I started training four days a week. One with Ian. I cut out booze and odd nibbles. It gave me more calories for good food. So I had to eat more because the weight dropped off of me. That was ok but there was still six week to go. I was already eating about 1900 calories. Then to my horror, I have to say that been a person who would normally eat 1400 calls a day. Ian put my diet food up to about 2200 calories a day. Now that scared me. Ian said, "trust me". I thought he's been right about everything else so I trusted him. I never thought I would get fed up with eating but I did. I carried on eating every 2hours because I trusted him.

I was hoping to gain a few pounds but I only maintained my weight. My shape was changing again I had more fullness in my muscles. Then all of a sudden, before my eyes, a six pack appeared. I thought,"wow" I always found it difficult to train my abs. I never thought I trained that area correctly, but I must have done something right, because there it was for all to see!

The last couple of weeks towards the competition I became tired with working, training, learning to pose and doing the routine. The day that I had been waiting for had come. I Tanned up once more. I had two lovely bikinis and diamante shoes. On the stage I went. To my excitement I came 5 th out of 10. I was so pleased with myself and Ian for such a good, hard working year. For all the patience and encouragement he gave me. I trusted him and he showed me how to believe in myself.

I hope to have another go next year, before I'm 50.
