I first met Ian Duckett through a
mutual friend and colleague at the beginning of 1999.
I planned to compete for the first
time that year, but wasn't sure which class I was best suited to. I'd
been told that Ian was an ANB champion with a wealth of knowledge and
experience, so I asked him to cast his expert eye over me and point me
in the right direction.
That initial help and advice has now developed into my ongoing pre -contest
ritual to which i've stuck religiously. On enterring my contest preparation.
I usually visit Ian on a fortnightly basis so he can monitor my progress.
Ian checks my weight and takes bodyfat (skinfold) measurements at 9 different
sites.
Fortunately the lighting in the gym and consultation area is perfect for
posing practise, and this is an aspect of my preparation where his advice
has proved invaluable. When I watch a show I can usually spot any competitor
who's taken posing advice from Ian because their routines are always faultless,
and compulsory poses well executed. I have to say my on - stage presentation
has improved no end as a result of Ian's fine tuning.

Being in basically the same line of work, personal training and the gym
environment, I was inclined to think I had a good depth of knowledge about
training and nutrition, but this guy is like "page the oracle"!
I've picked up many new ideas for training techniques and tips for dieting
along the way.
On occasions when I've trained at "Future Bodies" myself, I've
remained very focussed under Ian's watchful eye, he basically gets the
very best from me, and I always
leave from one of my visits feeling highly motivated having absorbed
his energy and positive outlook.
For the final touches, Ian is always there to prepare me backstage
before a show, give me a few last minute words of encouragement and then
cheer me on during my class.
I'm always sure to get an honest
appraisal of my performance
afterwards too!
To summarise, I'd have
to say I couldn't have achieved what I have to date without Ian which
is why I'm prepared to make the 90 mile trip to Leeds on a regular basis.
He's been a constant

source of motivation,
encouragement and support.
Thanks again Ian!
