Q: Ian Well Claire, let's show the bodybuilding & figure world what makes you tick. Let's start with your recent NPA British Win. What did that mean to you, how did it make you feel? A: Claire It meant everything to me, the entire purpose of me training hard for the last 6 months & ensuring I gave 110%, at each session. It was what I'd been working for really for the last 3years of my life. I cannot truly put into words, but in brief the jubilation I felt that day, as I was stood on the stage, for a split second I actually thought I hadn't won or even made a placing. The drum roll they play whilst announcing the winners is immense & really gets the blood pumping, I came over all emotional & started shivering. They then called out my name & I couldn't believe I'd done it; I truly wanted to jump up & down screaming with joy. However, I think I held it together well & was every bit of a professional on the day. Q: Ian Going on to the World championships was another great highlight of your competition career. Coming in Third was a great achievement, but many felt you had it hands down. Give me your thoughts on that? A: Claire Huh!! Politics!!!!! I actually get a lump in my throat when I think about this. Which, I've done a lot, since coming home. On the day I'd given everything of myself, if not more. Ian you of all people know that, as you shared the whole day with me. I'd got my attitude head on, not letting anyone get in or physic me out. I was gutted through to absolute sheer disappointment in myself, when they announced my name. The whole thing at the time was a blur & I didn't even know at first I'd placed 3 rd . Putting things into perspective now (cos you have to really for yourself) I'm 3 rd in the world & I have something to shout about. I know deep down I should have won, but hey! I'm the best I've ever looked & deserved to place 3 rd in the world. Q: Ian What are your goals from here on in competing wise? A: Claire Coming away from the worlds & taking a step back from everything, it's tough at first but certainly puts things into perspective, as I've said before. I know exactly what is required of me to win the title again next year. My nutrition is so much more important, mainly for my muscle development, rather than training itself. It's not always who trains the hardest, but who trains the smartest.... A very close & good friend of mine keeps telling me this & I expect to do just that. Q: Ian I have found using roll models a great help when getting ready for a show. I find it helps keep you focused on what can be achieved. Who, if any have been yours? A: Claire Well, believe it or not Ian, I actually don't have one. Of course I've looked in magazines at other's women physiques; I mean tell me a woman who hasn't & then thought 'God I wish I had a figure like hers'. But, from the start of my training I was actually attracted to me being able to shape & tone my body, you know, watching my arms & legs tone up. All along it was me who kept myself focused & pushing myself just that little bit further, helping me achieve the figure I have today. So, I'm very proud of me & never really needing a role model to do that. Q: Ian Let's delve a little deeper & find out more about the real you. Quickly tell me something you dislike? A: Claire Now this could be interesting! Do you mean dislikes in people or food? Well, I'll answer them both for you. Food: probably everyone's favourite, especially this time of year Sprouts, they smell & taste of grass (not that I've ever eaten grass), but I'm sure you get the idea. My other food dislike is Mushroom's, they are slimy & I just don't like the taste of them either. People: I hate liar's, people who blatantly tell you a lie, sometimes just for their own personal gain or simply because they don't like you. People like that are not nice & I think I will end this question now. Q: Ian Good Answer, what do you treasure most in your life? A: Claire Excellent question Ian. Tough one though! I think it has to be the time I spend with my parents. I know that sounds corny & probably depressing to a lot of the readers. But I have a very good relationship with my parents; they are my parents & my best friends as well. I have a lot to thank them for really, well, they did bring me into the world & brought me up, proper' as I would say. They aren't always gonna be around, as they aren't getting any younger & I just enjoy every moment I have with them. Very precious to me they are & I treasure them a lot. Q: Ian I know your philosophy for life & so do your friends & family. Please tell the reader what it is? A: Claire Crikey!!!! (Blank expression) Most people have a philosophy on life, everybody has an idea of what is right & what is wrong & why things are the way they are/ & who they are & who to trust. Funny, because most people always believe somebody else's philosophy. That person could be a religious or political leader or anybody you look upto. Many people have their own philosophy on life, which might be a mixture of theories; others are people who want to know the truth about life for themselves, so they spend their time studying, thinking & asking questions. Me, I just live each day as it's my last & certainly to the fullest. Why do I need a philosophy to survive in this world, I am who I am & I make it what I want. |
You are very close to your Mud & Dad & have some fantastic supporting friends. Please tell us a little about them & what they mean to you?
A: Claire My folks, they are great aren't they. You will know the answer to this if the reader has ever met them. They are addictive, Margaret my mum or 'Obey One' as she is known to many of my friends, as she knows everything & anything about life, politics etc she actually looks a lot like 'Dame Judy Dench' & has a few times been mistaken for her, whilst we've been out shopping. Bobby my dad, well what can I say about my Dad, I'm the twinkle in his eye & he will always say, he was the first to kiss my bottom (blushing) Hahaaa...he is very much like 'Victor Meldrew', always getting up to things & then the things he's doing always going wrong. I love them both dearly, & could quite easily spend this whole interview talking about them both. My Friends: I will name but only just a few & I'm sorry to those who I haven't named, but Ian hasn't got time to let me go through them all & you know who you all are. If I did speak about you all, I would need my own show, you know the guy with the red book 'This is Your life'.... Amanda & Lee meet them through some other friends who have turned out to great pals & I love you guys enormously. Lisa, well what can I say about this one - every one knows her as the 'loud person', she has a fantastic sense of humour & always makes me laugh, hope we are friends for a very long time to come.
Q: Ian What do you do for a living & if you did not do that job, what would you like to do given your time again? A: Claire Well, I have two jobs currently, shall I tell you a bit about them both? My full time job is quite boring actually. I work for an insurance company called 'Zurich', I deal with commercial motor vehicle accidents & deal with claims were both parties involved dispute liability. I'm responsible for settling the claims on the best possible terms & through to conclusion, some of the claims actually have to get settled in court, but I leave that to the Judge. (Yawn) My part time job as I like to call it is great.... I work as a lap dancer/pole dancer at the weekends, for 'Purple Door' & I have done this job for nearly 7 years now. It's great, it's like having a girly night out with my pals, but I get paid for it. (Big Grin) If I had my time again, you know I don't think I would change a thing. Q: Ian If you had not chosen to compete in figure shows, what other sport would have gone into? A: Claire (Blank expression) Do you know, I actually don't think I can answer this question? I dread to think what I could have gone into. Sumo wrestling for woman...HAHAHAAAA!!!!
Q: Ian What car do you drive & do you consider yourself a good driver? Hahaaa, I know what the answer to this is, but I want to her your side? A: Claire What do you mean you already know the answer to this....? Cheeky, I passed my driving test 2 nd time round, all good drivers pass 2 nd , did you know that!!! I say, 1 st time passers are just flukes...in my opinion anyway. I drive two cars, oops sorry no - we own/drive two vehicles, Martin my fiancée, has a company car Vauxhall signam 1.9 TDI that's a very nice drive, cruse control & 6 gear box. I actually own a Citroen C2 1.6 125bhp, goes like the clappers & handles the road very well, just like me in fact...... Q: Ian Do you have any pets? A: Claire Yes I do, I have two American Ragdoll Cats, and they are my boys. Rubin Blue is 5 years old & Smegul is 2 years old. They are great fun & proper little terrors, they are my babies & I treat them that way all the time - much to the disliking of my fiancée...Tee Hee.... Q: Ian What do you like to do when you are just chilling out at home & just doing your own thing? A: Claire Sleeping & watching telly - I'm a proper couch potato, God, that's not much inspiration for any of my wanna be fans is it. No seriously, I'm telling you the truth I love to sleep - I could sleep all day if I could. Well, you would if you worked all day & night too. Q: Ian What is your favourite song & why? What does it mean to you? A: Claire Oh my God. That is such a difficult question. I have so many songs for which I could have as my favourite song. We don't have that long during this interview, so for now I'm sorry, but I think of one that would truly represent as my favourite song.

What about your favourite movie & why? A: Claire Now this is easy, 'The Lost Boys' - shot in a fantastic location the coastal town of California 'Santa Cruz', beautiful place - very warm & reminds me of holidays. However, back to the point - I love the movie because what more could you ask for: Sleep all day (huge smile)/ Party all night - Never grow old & of course Never die. Perfect..... Q: Ian What do you find an attractive trait in a man? A: Claire A man in my eyes doesn't always have to be attractive, with a 6 pack - of course I know it helps (laughing). An attractive trait of a man has to be his personality, well - I like a man who can make me laugh & cry & also be able to cry themselves & in front of me. Shows they have a sensitive side too & of course, we women like that sort of stuff. Q: Ian Outside of the bodybuilding publications & websites, what else to you like to read? A: Claire Well, I love 'James Herbert' he's a brilliant novelist & I have read every book he has written. My favourite of his has to be 'The Rats', thrilling read - don't think I put the book down for an entire week. I also like, 'Sophie Kinsella' she writes the novels about 'Shopaholics', very funny & I can relate myself to her story's in a lot of ways. I'm currently reading books, by the author ' Jill Mansell', my first book of hers is called 'Mixed Doubles', not sure really how its gona go, but I'll let you know. Q: Ian Let's talk about your long term goals & ambitions? A: Claire (Eyes bulge wide) Well, my body isn't getting any younger, to be honest each year that goes by, I'm finding it just that little bit harder to train. But you know me Ian, that's what makes me all the more determined to excel & do better. 2007, I know I have a lot of work to do, the competition next year is gona be even tougher than this year was. Every girl that steps on to that stage is out to win that title, just like I was this year.. But my goal for next year is to retain my title & win the worlds, now't much then & no pressure on me, much. As for the remaining years, I will take them as they come. Q: Ian So where do you see yourself in Ten years? A: Claire Ten years is along time, away!!! I don't like to plan ahead, as you know I live each day as it's my last (well, you never know), so to plan would be murder for me, as I may not like what I am or who I am in ten years. I'll say, just watch this space. HAhaaaa Q: Ian What would you say is your most attractive trait? A: Claire My fiancée would say I don't have any!! (Joke) - However, I would like to think my most attractive trait was my personality, everybody who knows me would probably say that, or they would say my mouth, also gets me into a lot of trouble. I have a good sense of humour & I like to think I'm a little mad too.
Q: Ian We all have a few faults, what are yours? You know, maybe you are a bad time keeper or something along those lines. A: Claire I don't have any - didn't you know I'm perfect (joke) - all joking aside I'm actually quite a messy person; I just leave things lying around & expect them to clean themselves away. Well, in my house that does happen, since I lost my cleaner, I have cleaning fairies...they are great; they even do the washing up..... No, that would be my fiancée yet again. Love ya babe. Q: Ian What are you plusses? I know these in you & I know you hide your faults well. What do you do best for people close to you? A: Claire My plusses!!! Do I actually have any...? I'd like to think I'm a very positive person & have great determination for things. You know that person who wants something & goes straight out to get it, no matter what the consequences... I also like to help people with their strengths & not there weaknesses, because I think everybody always looks for people weaknesses rather than there strengths. I'd also like to think I brought out the best in people. In addition to this, I think a lot of people will say I try to please them more than I please myself sometimes........ Your answers on a survey please...HAhaaaa
Q: Ian In closing, who would you like to Thank for making your life what it is today? A;Claire My entire family & all my friends really couldn't have done it with out you.. You are all truly stars in your own rights. I would like to say a particularly & special thank you to my fiancé - Martin; he has been truly fantastic & very very supportive of me, with all my choices I have made. I love you very much babe & thank you again. Finally, & I think you know who you are: Ian - you took me under your wing & you taught me how to fly - all my hard work & times, have now turned into pride & I have you to thank for that for believing in me. Thanks babe, well you are the 'Guru'.... Thank you Claire, good luck & love in all you do in life. IAN. xx
