 Standards
  By John Heaton

In 2006, I went along to a seminar in Leeds by Udo Erasmus, author of 'Fats that Heal, Fats that Kill' and designer of Udo's Oil, the Worlds premier Omega 3, 6 & 9 oil blend. The seminar was enlightening and Udo began by discussing the standards he has set for himself in life and business. These standards have set him above most in the health and nutrition world.

We all make choices every day on every aspect of our life and they all revolve around standards we are willing to accept.

For example, if you go for a meal with your family and everything is cold, do you mention it or simply smile and sit there when they ask if everything is ok? Most people wouldn't be happy and would complain. They certainly wouldn't leave a tip!

If you employ staff and they forever turn up late or under perform do you train them, discipline them or accept it? Most bosses wouldn't accept this behaviour and would either address it or discipline the employee.

The most important choices we have to make are regarding our health but this is where we accept the poorest standards.

Do you apply the same high standards in your lifestyle choices as you do at work and when shopping for clothes, cars, electrical equipment, etc?

  • How many of us though choose organic fruit and vegetables over cheaper options?
  • How many people cook meals from scratch using real, fresh ingredients instead of jars, packets and boxes?
  • How many of us choose Extra Virgin Olive oil as opposed to just Olive Oil or Vegetable Oil.?
  • How many of us do what nature intended and make our bodies move every day instead of driving everywhere and sitting down all day?

Most men treat their cars better than their bodies!! Most women treat their hair better than their bodies!!

Choose only the best you can afford. Eat fresh fruit and vegetables every day, organic if possible. Eat lean meats, organic if possible, not sausages, burgers, etc. Eat only cereals with proven health benefits such as oats, whole-wheat, barley, etc rather than sugary options in boxes such as Frosties, Crunchy nut Cornflakes, Coco Pops, etc.

Remember, everything you put in your mouth is either nutrition or poison. It will either enhance your health or detract from it.

Set yourself the highest standards in all aspects of your life and enjoy it to the full. Remember, 'you're a long time dead!'
